Powerhouse 2008 | Twilight
I was looking forward to last Friday and was anxious to leave work. Jeff and I were not staff this year so it was nice to be there with no responsibilities other than our youth group. According to the state youth leader, Josh Lynn, it was the second largest Powerhouse ever. It was very organized and well run by some great staff.
I have to admit, I didn't know a lot of the kids that were there. I knew most of the high schoolers but the middle school and early high schoolers I didn't really recognize. Can't believe how fast everyone grows up. I got to see one of the girls that used to be in my cabin every year. She is now a nurse and a youth leader at her church. This makes me feel old.
Saturday we had our first directors meeting with all camp directors, since Jeff and I were appointed camp coordinators. Yeah...that is so weird. I remember being 11 and falling in love with camp the first year I ever attended. The only year I missed since then was when I was prego with Courtney and I still went to camp and stayed for a night. I've worked camp since I was 16 and Jeff was staff when I was a camper. Jeff did most of the talking at the meeting...of course. He's good at that. There's lots to do and a tremendous amount of responsibility but we're very excited to serve in this capacity. Jeff spoke Saturday night to boost camp and show a slide show of the 2008 Camping season for Senior and Teen camp.
I didn't get a lot of pictures. I carried my camera around but didn't take many. I wish I would've taken more pics. I pulled some photos off Shelly's Facebook page to make a slide show. She had some good pics. I was sick the entire weekend. EH!!! Yup...I have the chunky lung yet again...less than a month after my first bout. I've been takin' vitamins and OTC meds to try and curb the pretty terrible symptoms. I was so worried my coughing would keep the staff cabin up at night. I downed some Nyquil to keep it as under control as possible. Feeling like crap made me feel not so social. Other than that...it was a great weekend.
And...I've officially become addicted to the Twilight book series. I heard my MIL and Jeff talkin' about how all the kids are reading it and the movie is out so before I go see the movie...I thought I'd read the book. It's definitely kept my attention...and I'm not a casual reader by any means. I finished it Monday night and I've started New Moon. I've always loved any movies that had to do with Vampires for some reason. Guess it's love of scary movies.
