Back on the wagon

Well...back on this never ending wagon of healthy food and exercise. We always seem to find our way off the wagon but really...the older we get the more apparent our bad eating habits and lack of exercise become. Plus...I have to realize all over again how I'm not being a good steward of my body. Monday's and Tuesdays are really the only two days we have to eat at home during the week. Wednesday is church and I don't go home if I'm going to church. Thursday is family dinner night at the Mexican restaurant. Friday we usually have something to do that isn't at home. So...there were days I was eating fast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not good.

Jeff and I started back to Weight Watchers on Saturday. I actually got up early for various reasons. One being, I had to work on those children's church props. We went and signed up again that morning. I like their plan. You really aren't limited to eating just meat or no breads or pastas. You can pretty much eat whatever you want within reason but portions are important. We didn't stay for the meeting because it was goin' on while we were signing up. As motivating as those meetings are, they also get on my nerves. The leaders are usually over the top with their motivational classes. We've heard some of the other members say some crazy stuff in those meetings. One time a lady brought two dozen whole wheat krispy kreme donuts to class. They aren't low in points just cause they are whole wheat. The class leader's face when she walked in with those boxes of donuts was priceless. It was like bringin' a bottle of Jack to an AA meeting. Weight Watchers meetings are really the AA for over eaters. HA! Jeff and I crack up during the meetings. They are very entertaining. Main reason we go is because for every pound we loose, we get a sticker and your goal is to fill up your card with stickers. The stickers...are VERY motivational for some reason.

Anyway, after that, we went grocery shopping and stalked up on some old people food. I say that because when I was a kid and I would go with my mom to clean houses I noticed the old people had a lot of fat free...whole wheat...tasteless foods...lots of fruits and veggies...and diet coke. So I must be old...because that's what we buy now. I like fruits and veggies so it's all good. I'm having to get used to coke zero again because I've been drinkin' the real stuff for awhile now.

The task is portions. When you go from eating whatever you want and as much as you want to portion sizes. It takes a while. And Jeff gets more points than me which totally isn't fair. Just cause he's a guy. They don't give birth...they have more points...they loose weight a lot faster...life isn't fair. :P
