This week Courtney prepared to try out for Ellis Middle School's cheer squad. We began with a practice on Monday and Tuesday. She learned a cheer, dance, and worked on her round off and cartwheel. Others worked on their tumbling. Courtney hasn't been in gymnastics for quite a while so she did not have a back hand spring or anything fancy like that. She practiced and was pumped all week. Wednesday (yesterday) was mock tryouts. Parents could attend that and watch their daughters cheer. I thought she did great.
Today (Thursday) she tried out after school. The results were posted after tryouts on the school door. We drove by a second time and unfortunately she didn't make it. She didn't really show any reaction to it but as time went on and while we were at dinner, she started crying. Last year...she cried as soon as she saw the results. Since then, she's changed and tries not to show emotion as much. She's a trooper. So proud she tried out again and she's willing to keep trying other things.
