That is one of the most annoying radio commercials. I don't know if it's Joan Rivers or what but she does that radio spot advertising a trip to Vegas and at the end she says, "Las Vegas is calling!!!". Like nails down a chalk board.
Anyway, my brother texted me this afternoon to tell me he won two free Nascar tickets to any race in the US. He's giving them to me. Now me...I'm more excited because I know that Jeff will be freakin' out when I call him and we'll get to travel somewhere. I don't normally call him at school but today I made the exception. I had to call a dozen times because the phone was busy and that was frustrating because I was so excited to tell him. Finally got through and sure enough he was freakin' out. I'm not into Nascar but I'll go...especially if it's to any race. My brother said he needed to know by this Friday morning what tickets we wanted. Jeff's always wanted to go to Talledega, Bristol, or Richmond. There's the championship race in Miami in November, too. I asked that we go somewhere where we haven't been before. So after throwing a lot of ideas around we've decided to go to Vegas.
We'll be payin' a visit to ye ole Elvis impersonator. :) I'm pumped about this. We've been wanting to go to Vegas since we got married. His mom has frequent flyer miles because she travels on business trips all the time so she offered us two free flights. Sweet! We'll basically be paying for food and hotel which I've heard the rooms and food in Vegas are very reasonable because they want you to stay and gamble. :)
While out there, I'm hoping we can arrange to see the Grand Canyon. It's about 5 hours from Vegas according to Google Maps. I've heard it's less but man...to be so close...you've just gotta go see it. California isn't that far away either so that's an option, too. I'm so stinkin' excited. We sat down and made plans tonight. We've picked a hotel and once my brother confirms the tickets we'll book rooms and flights. The race is Sunday March 1st, so we'll fly out the Thursday before and stay until Monday. It isn't the most exciting race according to Jeff but Vegas should make up for the boring racing. Boring means there were only 5 wrecks last year at the same race? I have no idea what constitutes a boring race or an exciting race. It's all just cars driving around in circles. I know that the short tracks are more fun because you can see the entire race better apparently and there are a lot more wrecks. I don't know much about Nascar as you can tell. :)
