TeamUp 2010

I was blessed to be able to sing with the worship team at a new COGOP event called TeamUp. It was held in Murfreesboro this past Wednesday - Saturday. First off...love worship and love being a part of such an awesome team of singers and musicians. The band and vocals just blew me away. Vocals were tight and the band pretty much played whatever you wanted...whenever you wanted it.

Working a lot with bands from young people to church worship teams...charts are a necessity for me to provide to the musicians. I love it when musicians can play in any key using the Nashville Number System...playing by ear....no charts. It makes things so easy. Not only that...they just had incredible musical dynamics and technique.

June Gordon was the worship leader. She's great and just a Godly woman with anointing to lead worship. We had people from Georgia to New Jersey on this team and she pulled it all together and made it work. Sounded like we had been together for years.

More about TeamUp...in my own words...a needed conference regarding the church working together to live missionally in our communities and making the children and youth priority. They had speakers from LifeWay research to experienced church planters and missional leaders. They all shared a wealth of knowledge regarding our culture and ways to reach out to the younger generation.

Very important to me was the fact it WAS NOT about...how to hand out tracts or how to use bull horns on a street corner. It was about building real and lasting relationships with the community. Preaching at kids can be a lot easier than building relationships. Seems like the church has done a lot of preaching...and not enough relationship building. I'm talking about American Christianity as a whole. This conference was about repairing the reputation of the church. It was about becoming what Christ has called us to be and what we've failed to do. It was about getting to know our culture...etc. Loved it!
