Summer Update

Camps pretty much consumed the summer. If I haven't made it perfectly clear...I love camp and I miss it! I'm not able to be there for every camp because of work, but I did get to work The NEXUS (college camp), Senior (High School) and part of Teen (Middle and High School). Loved every minute of it and can't believe it's over. Jeff has his summers off because of teaching so, he's there a lot. Jeff's cousin Cody spent the summer at camp life guarding for us. He'll be moving in with us next week so he can attend Nashville Auto Diesel College.

Before all the camp stuff...I went to NYC with my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law. That was lots of fun. We went for a long weekend but you really need a week to see everything. We did as much as we could. I had been a couple times before but not for that long.

We're doing some much needed maintenance on our home. We're having the AC guy come out and do a diagnostic on our unit. Our house stays above 80 degrees all day. The air is  cold but it stays on constantly and it doesn't get any cooler. Our electric bill this past month was outrageous! By far the highest bill we've ever had. Plus the upstair is obnoxiously hot during the day. Hopefully he'll be able to figure out what the problem is.

We are also pulling up the carpet in the living room and putting down hardwood. I'm excited about that. Having a dog that sheds....the carpet is like a magnet for dust mites, hair, and just stuff, since it's a high traffic area. The carpet has lasted well past it's time. :) The installers have come out to take measurements and to give us an estimate to install. We will pick up the flooring tomorrow and they will install it next Wednesday. I picked out a light bamboo floor. I like it. :)

We paid off my car, so now...we have no more car payments. YAY! Courtney said..."Now you can get a new car mama!" I took that opportunity to tell her the joys of trying to get debt free. She didn't think that was quite as fun...but understood. :) She's doing the Dave Ramsey for kids. She has her envelopes up on the fridge and a chart for chores and saving money. Glad she's into it. She has her moments where she wants to spend it all. HA! She's doing a lot better about that though.

On the weightloss front...camps and crazy schedules have made it difficult. We haven't been home much this summer so our routine was interrupted. Good news is...Jeff and I have pretty much maintained. No drastic weight gain. We haven't lost anymore which is a bummer...but considering our summer...I'm proud we held on. HA! I'm going to get back on my normal workout schedule next week after I finish this big project for work. We'll be back in the normal routine with school starting. It feels like we've traveled not stop this summer.

I'm ready for a serious vacation. Nothing involving ministry, youth ministry, or camps. Just a beach or a cabin or something where there's no schedule or need to be or have anything done. Can I get an amen? We think Labor Day weekend we're going to go somewhere and just chill. Courtney, Emily, and Melissa will be going with Grandmama to Dollywood...so Jeff and I will have a weekend get away and I'm excited about that!
