Broken Toys & Retreats

Well, I broke my camera in Vegas on the side walk. I'm clumsy like that. It was a little over 3 years old so the bright side is, technology has advanced since the last digital camera I bought. I had money saved for my Mac...which never seems to reach that magic number cause I keep having to replace other tech stuff. Sigh. I love my new camera. More mega pixels. More features. Unfortunately more money...but glad I had money saved.

This weekend was our 1DAY Youth Camp Workers Retreat. It went well. We need to improve on it and make changes for next year but it was a good start. We had Linda Dunlap from the Jason Foundation come and hold a 2 hour seminar on Saturday about preventing youth suicide. Phillip Fulmer is the national spokesperson. Jeff and I wondered if it would be relevant but it was an awesome presentation. It didn't feel like 2 hours at all. One of the youth that was there said everyone at his school and in his youth group needed to hear it. I can't believe how many young people we loose to suicide each year...just in TN. The media is instructed not to report it because it tends to glorify it. So we don't really hear about it unless we're socially connected to that young person or their family. Eye opening.

Saturday night some friends stayed at the house and we went out to eat and later on we went to a movie. Always enjoy girls night out. It was me, Melisa, Nikki, Katrina, and Kristen. Before going out we all met at my house and Kristen let us know that we would be aunts. SWEET! Congratulations to Kristen and Brandon. She is due in October/November. They will make awesome parents.
