Jeff and I went to the TN State COGOP Marriage retreat this weekend in Pigeon Forge. The theme was Fireproof after the movie. We didn't get to leave until after I got off work Friday. Didn't get home till 6:15 and then I had to finish packing. We met mom at an exit in Knoxville so she could keep Courtney for the weekend. I started feeling rough that Friday morning. Whatever Courtney had last week was passed off to me. I thought it was sinus allergy stuff but apparently it was a head/chest cold of some kind. We got to the hotel last Friday night and I was running a fever by the time I got to bed. That pretty much stunk. How romantic is a fever, head full of snot, and hacking. Saturday, Jeff got up and started getting ready for the morning session. Duke Stone would be teaching. I laid there with body aches and feelin' pretty cruddy. He told me to stay in bed for the morning session. He went down stairs and got me some coffee and a bagel. He's so sweet. :) He went to the morning session without me.

After a little while I got up and took some cold medicine. Jeff got back in time for lunch so we went to eat. I was determined not to lay in the hotel room all weekend. I got medicated on various over the counter meds and felt semi ok. So we went to Wonderworks after eating. If you've been to Pigeon Forge lately, it's the building that looks like an upside down mansion. We both had always wondered what was in there so we decided to go. At $19.50 a person, I was thinkin'...this better be good! Well...it's probably great when you have children with you. It's a lot of interactive stuff and all kinds of facts from space to weather and other science stuff. It was so crowded in there you would have to stand in line forever just to do the activities.

We went into the Weather part of Wonderworks. They had a hurricane tunnel and of course there was a line. So we waited and then had to put on safety glasses. You walk into a room with poles to hold on to and then this prerecorded voices starts tell you all the facts about hurricanes then says, "what you are about to experience is hurricane winds of 65mph. Imagine if it were winds of 311 mph. Then a fan on each side of the room turned on. LAME! All it did was tangle my hair into knots. A kid would've thought it was pretty cool though. Got a pic of Jeff in the safety glasses.

I was feelin' pretty rough after about an hour in the place. It was so hot and crowded. I was runnin' low on energy. We did play a game of mind ball. You sit in chairs with a special table that has a ball which moves by brain waves. Whoever is the most relaxed moves the ball to the other side of the table. I was for sure gonna win this. I would say most of the time, I'm more mellow than Jeff. His brain is constantly racing with stuff. To my surprise, I lost. He said he won by thinking of midgets (the PC term being "little people") running through fields...a very Happy Gilmore-esk kind of day dream. HA!
After we left there, we sat in traffic forever and made it to the Apple Barn for dinner. We met with all the couples that are from Roberts. When I went in, these two ladies followed me in. They were standing to my right waiting for a table and Pastor Tim asked if I felt better and if I thought I had the flu. As soon as he said that, the two ladies to my right very obviously moved away from me like I had the plague. He laughed when they did and I looked over and gave a sheepish smile to them, to which they did not smile back. I said loud enough so they could hear, "No I don't have the flu...it's just a cold." If I had the flu...I would be going back home. HA!

We had a good time there with everyone. Our waiter used to attend Lee. He was very nice. He dropped an entire tray of our food which we ribbed him about. After leaving there we went to watch the movie Fireproof at the hotel conference room with all the other couples from across the state. It was packed and we arrived a little late because of our food having to be cooked twice. The movie was good. Some of it was sappy and of course Jeff and I laughed in places we probably shouldn't have. When it was over, pretty much every girl in the place was crying. There was one part that almost got me but didn't cry. I don't know if I should be proud of that fact. I must have a heart of stone or somethin'. HA! Jeff and I often find somber moments more funny than they should be.

After the movie we went to ride go-karts with Brandon and Jacqualine Pedigo. That probably wasn't the smartest thing with me already sick. The air was cold and wet from the rain so after 3 races my lungs were on fire. After the afternoon meds had worn off...my fever was back with a vengeance. Real smart Kimmy.
We made it late to Sunday's session with Duke Stone. I felt even worse. Bro. Stone's teaching was awesome. I kept coughing and getting up to get tissue for my runny nose. I could have listened to him all afternoon long. It was a great retreat. I loved getting to spend what little time we did with the Robert's couples. I wish I hadn't been sick...it would've been even more fun.
