Well she can't eat on most kid menus now. She's a year away from the "teens". She's growing up way, too, fast.
Friday night she invited her friend China over to spend the night. They went to VBS with Jeff. Saturday they slept in a little and then we went out for a long day to celebrate Court's 12th birthday.
We headed to Chuck E Cheese first. Court is getting to that stage where she embarrasses easily. Pretty soon, Jeff and I will not be cool...any longer...if we ever were. We sang Chuck E Cheese's happy birthday song very loud and obnoxiously to her. I think her and China would've crawled under the table if they could. :)
After leaving Chuck's we went to Grand Ole' Golf to ride go carts. They have a great track. Jeff was more excited than the girls I think. He came outta the gate and bumped both of them outta the way. :)
After that, Court wanted to go shopping with b-day money. We went to The Streets of Indian Lake...an outdoor mall in Hendersonville. She shopped around and then we headed to the fountain in the center of The Streets. Kids go out there all the time to run through the water.
After that, we dropped China off and took Court for a b-day dinner to Red Robin. She opened her presents there. She got the book New Moon, the new Jordin Sparks CD, and a purity ring. This last gift being the most important. We've had "the talk" and we've talked about purity until marriage. It's something we believe in and want to instill in Court. Jeff read the scriptures that came with the ring and the challenge as well. Courtney signed the commitment that came with the ring and then he put the ring on her finger. I believed and made that promise as a little girl but did not keep that commitment. Jeff did and he saved himself for marriage. Coming from two different perspectives in our own lives, I can say it is more beneficial to wait and it is biblical. We've been able to share those different perspective and promote abstinence through different classes for youth. It's one thing to talk about it to other kids...now we've got to take our daughter through it. I don't want to be an over baring parent but I don't want to turn a blind eye either. This will be a learning process and I don't look forward to that first little boy coming to our door step to pick up our daughter for a date. Ehhh...but I pray we will love and instill the importance of purity in her so she will make the right decisions.
Here's a slide show of Courtney's birthday...day. :)
